KNIGHTS SPLIT WEEKEND ROAD TRIP

By sactoknights.com
July 04, 2007
On a tough weekend road trip to sunny, hot Denver Colorado, the Knights played the Denver Kickers on Saturday.  The Knights tried to maintain their 2nd place lead, but it wasn't to be.  The Kickers scored early in the 2nd half and shortly there after brought on another goal for the Kickers, as the Knights tried with every effort to place the ball in the net.  The game ended with Kickers 2, the Knights 0.

A well rested Knights team played the Ft. Collins Crimson on Sunday with tempatures reaching over 100 on the astro terf.  In the 1st half the Knights got their 1st chance with a free kick awarded to the Knights.  The shot was taken by Matt Scammacca, which gave the Knights their 1st goal.  After what seemed to be an extremely hot scoreless 2nd half by both teams, the Knights scored in the 2-minutes of stoppage time.  Derek Guay scored the 2nd Knights goal, to end any hopes of a come back for the Ft. Collins Crimson.  The Knights ended their road trip weekend winning over the Ft. Collins Crimson , with the score being Knights 2, the Ft. Collins Crimson 0.

Congratlulations to the players who were able to make the 36-hour road trip!

Let's wish them good luck, as they travel this weekend again for another double-header weekend to San Jose and Salinas.

GO KNIGHTS!
